Places To Eat and Drink (and smoke)

As you enjoy the Cuban Cigar Walk London in search of places to buy Cuban cigars and possibly a new cigar humidor you may we need to pause for refreshment.
These are our personal recommendations for places you might like to stop for a brief drink or a coffee while you are on the walk.
We have also diligently spent time checking out the spots in London which accommodate cigar smokers and a list of these is published below. Please keep checking back because we will be updating this list.
We have indicated the places where it’s possible to smoke.
During The Walk
Audley Pub, 41 Mount Street, Mayfair, London. W1K 2RX
This is a wonderful pub, in fact if you venture in you could mistake it for one of London’s more exclusive Gentlemen’s clubs.
In addition to great original décor there are some tables outside so if the weather is good it’s a nice spot for a pint and a cigar.
Brown’s Hotel, Albemarle Street, London, W1S 4BP
This elegant 5 star hotel with a dedicated “English Tea room” is one of England’s great institutions.
Tea is served between 3pm and 6pm Monday to Friday and between 1pm and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Cecconi’s, 5-5a Burlington Gardens, W1S 3EP
This wonderfully elegant spot just off Bond street is the place to see and be seen. If you just want a quick coffee and a light bite to eat there are some tables outside where you can also smoke. It opens early (typically 8.00am) so it’s also a good place to get breakfast before you start the walk as it’s only 2 minutes from the start point.
However for the full experience we suggest you pop inside and if the tables are busy, sit at the bar for a glass of Prosecco and a selection of cichetti (that’s Italian for tapas).

Fortnum & Masons
These days there is lots of choice of spots to eat at Fortnum & Masons.
If you want a light lunch, the Fountain restaurant on the ground floor or the 1707 wine bar are extremely stylish with quick service and excellent food. And here is a great bar to sit at .
For a classic afternoon tea make your way up to the St James restaurant on the fourth floor. Tea here can be a light tea or a full meal and Champagne is an option to brighten a dull day. Be aware there is a dress code (no shorts or open toe sandals)

Franco’s, Jermyn Street
Opposite Davidoff in Jermyn street is Franco’s restaurant. There are four tables outside where it’s possible to get a great coffee, a drink or a light meal while you are on your walk, but be warned, these tables are extremely popular.
“London has masses of Italian restaurants; few are excellent. The born-again Franco's can, I think, be added to that small number”
Fay Maschler, Evening Standard (7 December 2005)

Red Lion Pub, Crown Passage
As we were preparing this Walk, Maxwell Hutchinson tipped me off about this little pub, it’s one of his favourites and when I went in it’s not difficult to see why. It’s got great beer and if you want a quick sandwich it’s made freshly for you behind the bar by the wonderfully attentive bar staff. To top it off they have wide window sills to rest your pint while you enjoy a cigar in the fresh air and watch the world go by. Truly a little oasis in the hustle and bustle of London.
The American Bar at the Stafford Hotel, Blue Ball Yard off St James St, SW1A 1NJ.
If you didn’t know it was there it would be very easy to miss this spot but if you are finishing your walk after your visit to Fox’s or once you have toured the Churchill Museum there are few places better suited to relax and enjoy a cigar. Pol Roger is the house Champagne and they claim to serve the best martini in London and I will report back when I have tried it. These days you have to sit outside to smoke but there are some heaters and on a sunny day there are few better places to while away a couple of hours with friends. Gentlemen must wear a jacket in the bar.
After The Walk
The Cigar Terrace at Number at Number Ten Manchester Street
This is one of the nicest Cigar Terraces in London. Warm, even on the coldest winter day, compact with attentive staff and a hummidor well stocked with Cuban cigars. It is also one of the only Cigar Terraces in London where it is possible to get a drink, a bite to eat and smoke a cigar.
The Cigar Terrace at the Montague Hotel
This is one of London's newest Cigar Terraces. Looking out over the beautiful private gardens of the Bedford Estates it has the very best view of any of the other London Cigar terraces. It opened in the late autumn of 2010 so I have yet to experience it in the summer when I am sure it will be a quite spectacular spot to enjoy a Cuban cigar and a fine brandy as you relax after a hard days cigar smoking and walking. It also has the advantage of being one of the later opening terraces should you want to 'burn the midnight oil'
Boisdale Jazz and Cigar Club, 15 Eccleston Street, Belgravia, SW1W 9LX
Open 7.00pm - 12.00am, Monday to Saturday
The Garden Room Lanesborough Hotel, No. 1 Lanesborough Place, London, SW1X 7TA. Open from 4.00pm to 12.00am, 7 days.
This is a spot for a very special cigar. It’s just a short taxi ride from St James or one stop on the Piccadilly line from Green Park (At Hyde Park Corner tube, follow the sign for Harrods and you will exit right by the front door of the hotel.)
The Garden Room is a sumptuous spot for a cigar in this most exclusive of hotels. Guiseppe Ruo and his team will make you very welcome and offer you some wonderful choices of fine brandies and aged cigars.
To find the Garden Room, take the lift down one floor to the lower ground floor and turn right out of the lift lobby and walk all the way to the end of the long corridor, the entrance to the Garden Room.
The Mandarin Oriental, 66 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7LA The Park Terrace (open between 1st May & 30th September)
A wonderful garden setting overlooking the park (as the name suggests) If you are visiting in the summer it’s the perfect spot for a light lunch, afternoon tea or an early evening drink to accompany the fine cigar you purchased on your walk.

Sheraton Park Tower, 101 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7RN

The ideal spot for a Cigar after some hectic shopping.
Victor Durbaca, the Piano Bar manager and his team will look after you and they have a well stocked humidor in this bubbly bar.
